Microsoft becomes largest exporting company in Ireland

US tech firm Microsoft has become the largest exporting company in Ireland, taking over from Google, a report has said. The report, published by the Irish Exporters Association (IEA), in association with financial group Investec, showed that Microsoft, with over 1,200 employees in Ireland, had a big increase in export turnover of 21 percent, up from 15 billion euros to 18.2 billion euros year on year, Xinhua news agency reported. Investec is a leading international, specialist-banking group with headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa. Microsoft was followed by Google, Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson and Ingersoll Rand, the report said. The data from the report also showed stellar growth in the manufacturing and services sectors with the value of exports from the top five exporters increasing by 23.5 percent on the previous year. BHEL-supplied Uttar Pradesh’s first Supercritical Thermal Unit

New Delhi, September 21: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has achieved a major milestone with the commencement of the first unit of the upcoming 3×660 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant at Mirchwara in Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh . This is the first Supercritical unit set up in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The unit has been set up at the 3×660 MW Lalitpur Super Thermal Power Project (STPP). Lalitpur STPP is being developed by Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited (LPGCL), promoted by the Bajaj Hindusthan group. NTPC a stellar performer …. Powering India’s Growth

Jha, CMD informed that NTPC is the largest power producer in India in terms of both installed capacity and generation, with aggregate installed capacity of 45,548 MW (including 39352 MW through directly owned units and 6,196 MW through Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures) as on September 10, 2015. In addition, the Company has a capacity of 23,004 MW which is under different phases of completion as on date. K. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited questions for Townhall Question and Answer session at Facebook Headquarters in the US to be held on 27th of this month. In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister wrote that he was looking forward to the Question and Answer session. Thanking Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg for the invitation, Mr Modi said the interaction will cover a wide range of issues. 35 killed, 80 injured in India's gas cylinder explosion

The blast took place at about 8:30 am local time (3:00 GMT) in Petlawad town, according to the PSU NEWS INIDA.   A gas cylinder explosion outside a hotel in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh killed at least 30 people on Saturday, a local police inspector told Sputnik. Home Minister of the state Babulal Gaur ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and pledged severe punishment for the guilty. "Blast is so severe that we are unable to identify the bodies. So far we have counted 30 dead bodies. We have pulled the injured peoples from the debris and admitted in hospitals," Shivji Singh said. According to him, the explosion of the gas cylinders was triggered by a blast of a detonator kept in a nearby building for mining purposes.

RBI: Uniform methodology for calculating base lending rate

To ensure effective transmission of its policy rate decisions by banks, RBI today proposed a uniform methodology for calculation of their base lending rates on the basis of marginal cost of funds. Many banks currently follow average cost of funds or ‘blended cost of funds (liabilities) method’ for calculating the base rate, while a few already take into account the proposed measure of ‘marginal cost of funds’. “For monetary transmission to occur, lending rates have to be sensitive to the policy rate,” said draft guidelines on ‘Transmission of Monetary Policy Rates to Banks’ Lending Rates Base Rate Guidelines’. As per the draft, components of Base Rate will include cost of funds, negative carry on CRR/SLR, un-allocable overhead costs and average return on networth. “The marginal cost of funds should be used for computing the cost of funds.
