This assurance was given at a meeting between the Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh, and renewable energy sector stakeholders on October 20, 2023.

Some of the key regulatory issues discussed at the meeting included:

Dual connectivity:
Renewable energy developers have been demanding dual connectivity, which
will allow them to sell their power to multiple buyers. The Center has
assured stakeholders that it is working on a framework for dual
connectivity.

Contractual conditions:
Renewable energy developers have also raised concerns about certain
contractual conditions, such as the requirement to pay liquidated
damages for delays in commissioning projects. The Center has assured
stakeholders that it is reviewing these contractual conditions.

Demand charges:
Renewable energy developers have also complained about being charged
demand charges by states. The Center has assured stakeholders that it is
taking up this issue with the states.

SEZ policies: Renewable
energy developers have also raised concerns about certain SEZ policies,
such as the requirement to export at least 70% of their power. The
Center has assured stakeholders that it is taking up this issue with the
Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The Center's assurance to renewable energy sector stakeholders is a welcome step. It shows that the government is committed to resolving the challenges faced by the sector. This is important because the renewable energy sector is a key driver of India's energy transition and its commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The early resolution of regulatory issues will help to boost the growth of the renewable energy sector in India. It will also help to attract more investment in the sector. This will create more jobs and help to reduce India's dependence on fossil fuels.
Bipin Sasihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15589483595196693483noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1759893730935366135.post-5559758469397236942023-10-21T14:11:00.003+05:302023-10-21T14:11:51.575+05:30BPCL slapped fine for delay in vapour recovery systems at petrol pumps

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has slapped a fine of Rs. 2 crore on state-owned oil marketing company Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for not installing vapour recovery systems (VRS) at its petrol refuelling stations and storage terminals within the given deadline.

The CPCB issued a notice to BPCL under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, stating that the company had not installed the VRS within the timeline fixed by the Supreme Court and the CPCB. BPCL has said that it is examining the notice and will give an appropriate reply soon.

VRS are systems that help to capture and recover petrol vapours that are released into the atmosphere during refuelling and storage. Petrol vapours are a major source of air pollution, and VRS can help to reduce emissions by up to 90%.

The Supreme Court had ordered all oil marketing companies to install VRS at their petrol pumps and storage terminals by March 2023. However, BPCL was unable to meet the deadline.

The CPCB's decision to fine BPCL is a welcome step. It will send a strong signal to other oil marketing companies that they need to comply with environmental regulations. It will also help to improve air quality in the country.

The delay in installing VRS at BPCL's petrol pumps and storage terminals is a matter of concern. Petrol vapours are a major source of air pollution, and they can cause serious health problems such as asthma, bronchitis, and cancer. The CPCB should take steps to ensure that all oil marketing companies comply with the Supreme Court's order and install VRS within the stipulated deadline.
Bipin Sasihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15589483595196693483noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1759893730935366135.post-55357110541222058332022-03-22T23:00:00.002+05:302022-03-22T23:00:10.418+05:30Shri V K Singh has been Appointed as Director (Technical) REC Limited The Public Enterprises Selection (PESB) held interview for the selection of Director(Technical), Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd.

Agartala, March 2 A Rs 9,000 crore gas-grid project has been approved to transport natural gas among northeastern states and West Bengal, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said here on Saturday.

âThere is huge amount of natural gas available in Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and other northeast states is being tapped into for the Rs 9,265 crore North East Gas Grid (NEGG). The government has okayed this project to transport gas among the northeastern states as well as West Bengal via Siliguri,â Pradhan said inaugurating the Rs 215 crore Sonamura Gas Collecting station of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

An ONGC official said the NEGG is a joint venture of five oil and natural gas companies â Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC), Oil India Limited (OIL), Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and ONGC.

Huge onshore gas reserves have been found in Assam, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Tripura, which is also the number one gas producing state for ONGC.

The transportation and availability of cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas â LPG) has been eased after the Centre signed a deal with the Bangladesh to ferry LPG via Chittagong international sea port and land route.

âCarrying LPG tankers or cylinders by trucks through the northeast is a big problem due to its mountainous terrain. The ferrying through Bangladesh will not only be cost-effective but also consume less time,â the minister said.

Use of Tripuraâs gas reserve would also improve revenue and income of the state, he said.

The ONGC should explore more gas reserves to develop new industries, power plants and other projects in the state to help create jobs, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said.

The ONGC has been working in Tripura for the past five decades. It has drilled 225 wells and found gas in 116.

A 726 MW power plant in southern Tripura is already using local reserves, the ONGC said. The gas-based power projects is supplying electricity to all the northeastern states and Bangladesh (160 MW).

Resereves are also providing CNG to fuel thousands of vehicles and PNG for household and industrial consumption.
